Director of Southern Accent Show Chorus, Monroe, Louisiana
On September 13, 2008,Mary Helen Tschabold joined
the ranks of Certified Director of Sweet Adelines, International,
and was recognized at the Crowne Plaza in Addison, Texas for
achieving the certification. To achieve this distinction requires
dedication to the art form, education, and a commitment to
excellence.
Mary Helen Tschabold is Assistant Director of Southern Accent
Show Chorus, the Monroe Chapter of Sweet Adelines. The chapter
was chartered in 2006, and Mary Helen was also recognized spring
2009 at the Region 25 Annual Conference in Richardson, TX, at the
Eisemann Center at the annual RAMM meeting and regional competition.
Southern
Accent Chorus, Monroe, is one of about 25 choruses that participate
in the annual regional competition. Region 25 "Heart of
America" includes portions of Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri,
Louisiana and Arkansas. Hawaii hosted the International conference
in 2008, and 2009 it will be held in Nashville. Locally, Southern
Accent participates in annual festivals, and performs around
northeast Louisiana at different venues at both private gatherings
and public events.
Mary Helen has sung a cappella barbershop harmony with Southern
Accent in Monroe, and also with the award winning choruses Top of
the Rock, of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Piney Hills in Ruston.
Mary Helen has earned medals with Top of the Rock, and holds a
dual membership with both Top of the Rock and Southern Accent. Mary
Helen sings both baritone and tenor.
As a small, but growing chorus, Southern Accent shares a love of
music and enjoys singing four-part barbershop harmony.
